The BAFU (Bundesamt für Umwelt) is responsible for the development and administrative implementation of the Swiss environmental policy. Ecobalance and LCA play an increasing role therein. A. Braunschweig has co-authored the impact assessment "method of ecological scarcity" (also known as 'Swiss eco-points') in 1989/90 and supported the updates in 1998, 2006 and 2013. 

In addition, E2 has critically assessed LCA studies for the BAFU.

Working groups, such as the accompanying group to the update of Swiss Ecofactors for LCA and Ecobalances, based on the "ecological scarcity method" (information in German: "MöK2020").

Starting june 2019, Arthur Braunschweig acts as president of öbu, as voluntary activity. With the Corona measures, "öbu-online" video talks have been and are taking place. Arthur Braunschweig moderated the first four events.

According to an analysis of University of Lucern, the ibex fairstay is one of the four globally leading sustainability labels for the accomodation industry. Some 50 Swiss hotels and hostels carry an "ibex" label.

Next to sustainable management, the ibex enables a Hotel to receive the Swiss tourism quality label (Q, QQ, QQQ; see e.g. here) as well as the "green living" or "sustainable living" accreditation by Hotelleriesuisse.

The ibex-certification is, yet simplified, aligned with the ISO 9001 and 14001 and the SA8000 standards. It also contains sector-specific performance targets. For more than 10 years, a dedicated office manages the label. E2 continues to be on the label's certification board.

• Integration of the EU eco-label for the accomodation industry (2006/7)
• Integration of Swiss quality label for hotels 'QQQ' (2006/7)
• Methodology update (2006, '09, '12)

In two subsequent projects, banks and insurance companies led by E2 developed key performance indicators for the environmental and the social performance of banks and insurance companies. The environmental KPIs ('EPI-Finance') were the first sustainability KPIs for the financial industry. The social KPIs ('SPI-Finance') were the first sector supplement of the GRI.
